FAQs
RECEIVING PAYMENT QUERIES
Pay rates at TeacherPresto are determined by number of students, as follows:
2 – 3 students 15€ per hour
4 – 7 students 18€ per hour
The rate will be amended according to how many students have signed up at any given time in the month. So, for example, if you begin a group with 3 students signed up, and the following week another student signs up, you’ll be paid for the first week at 15€ and the second week at 18€. If one student drops out, your rate will again drop to 15€.
Example:
Week | Number of Students | Rate for that week | Total |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 3 | 15€/hour x 2 hours | 30€ |
2 | 4 | 18€/hour x 2 hours | 36€ |
3 | 5 | 18€/hour x 2 hours | 36€ |
4 | 3 (2 students drop out) | 15€/hour x 2 hours | 30€ |
TOTAL | 132€ |
If a student is signed up but doesn’t show up for the lesson, you can still charge the applicable rate provided that you have recorded the lesson and sent it to the missing student.

LESSON POLICY QUERIES
Each new course you create should have enough content to last at least until the end of the academic year (end of June).
It’s entirely up to you! When you create your course, you can choose from a wide range of pre-set class topic options, or create your own. As long as your course has enough content to last until the end of the academic year, you’re good to go!
When you create your course, there are two options for scheduling lessons:
- One day per week, 2 hours consecutively (i.e. Monday, 5 – 7pm)
- 2 days per week, 1 hour each day (i.e. Tuesday and Thursday, 9 – 10am)
Choose whichever option works best for you. The lesson option will automatically be included in the calendar for that course, starting from the date you’ve chosen, all the way through to the end of the academic year.
Remember that a course cannot begin until there are at least 2 students enrolled.
We may decide to cancel a course if enrolment numbers are consistently below 3 students.
A lesson that you have scheduled and published as part of your course is a commitment you make with your students. Cancelations or rescheduling should only be as a last resort and only after you have communicated this with your students and with TeacherPresto. We do understand that along a whole year you may have an appointment, event or religious holiday that conflicts with your classes. In this case:
- If you know ahead of time, you should try to reschedule with your students for a day that all, or at least the majority can attend, and let TeacherPresto know of the change. Be sure to send a copy of the lesson recording to any students who can’t attend.
- If it’s not possible to reschedule for a day that suits all, or the majority of your students, you can send us a copy of your lesson plan for the lesson you’ll miss, and request a substitute teacher to take your place. (Subject to availability of our substitute teachers).
- If the lesson can’t be rescheduled for all, or the majority and no substitute teacher is available, the class will be cancelled. Please be sure to notify your students, and ask them to contact TeacherPresto to see if a refund is applicable.
Always make sure any changes to scheduling are notified with as much advanced notice as possible, both to the students and to TeacherPresto.
If one of your students cannot attend one of the lessons, you should make sure that you send them a copy of the lesson recording as well as any notes for the lesson they missed.
Remember that every lesson should be recorded, even if no students are missing.
Part of what the students pay for when they buy your course is the recordings that they can review again and again. It’s very important to make a habit of starting the recording when your students have arrived.
If all of the students that are signed up to the course attend but you forget to record, you should send them any relevant notes or audios that they can review.
If a student is missing and you forget to record, you must let TeacherPresto know as soon as possible.
- Be Punctual
- Always begin and end your classes at the correct time.
- Make sure you log in to TeacherPresto ahead of your lesson time to post the link so that all students are able to join on time.
- Check audio-visual equipment and recording function are working correctly ahead of time
- Be Respectful
- All students should be treated equally
- Respect your students’ values and traditions, and remember that stereotypes can be offensive
- We recommend avoiding certain topics like religion, politics and controversial issues. If something controversial does come up, treat opinions with respect and change the topic as swiftly as you can. Avoid confrontation at all costs.
- Classroom management
- Make sure students are respectful towards each other.
- Set down clear ground rules to students. e. Don’t speak over each other, Listen to others, English only, etc.
- If you find some students have a tendency to dominate the class, do your best to involve others. Try to encourage quieter students to contribute equally to the classroom dynamic.
- Remember to record your class
- An important part of the TeacherPresto experience for students is to be able to review recordings after a class. It’s especially important if a student is not able to attend to give them a copy of the class recording so they can catch up on anything they missed.
It’s very important for us at TeacherPresto to make sure that the classroom is a harmonious and respectful environment for both students and our teachers. If you do have a problem in any class, please take note of specific details and let us know as soon as possible. A copy of the class recording is also very helpful if there happens to be any kind of undesirable situation.
COMMUNICATION TOOLS/PLATFORMS
At TeacherPresto we have an integrated videoconference platform that every teacher can use. You just need to BLAH BLAH. You can see a tutorial of how this works here.
What you need from the communication platform:
Offers 2 hours consecutively (for 2-hour, same day lessons) or 1 hour (for 1-hour, 2 different days option)
Permits 8 people at a time
Allows you to record the lesson and share it with your students
Share screen option in the case of sharing documents, articles, or whiteboards
Free platforms
Currently, the only free platform that covers all of the needs mentioned above is Skype.
Other acceptable platforms
If you already have a paid subscription to another platform, feel free to use that one. The more popular the platform, the better. Please ensure that it meets the needs mentioned above. Current popular platforms include Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex.
Whichever platform you choose to use, we recommend you try to agree with all students on a backup platform in case the regular one has any issues.
